Associate Professor Torbjörn Bergh

Certified Physician 1973
PhD 1978
Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology 1982
I went to Uppsala University Medical School and worked at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Uppsala University Hospital 1973 – 1994. I was Head of the Section for Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Uppsala University Hospital 1984 - 1994. From 1994, I have worked full-time at the Carl von Linné Clinic. IVF treatment is our primary focus. However, we also investigate and treat gynecological hormonal imbalances, infertility and even general gynecological problems.

My research has been carried out at the Institution of Women’s and Children’s Health, Uppsala University. My main focus has been on female hormone imbalances, menstrual disorders and infertility. I have been an advisor for several doctoral students who have done their dissertations within these areas.

Dr. Jan Holte, PhD

Certified physician 1979 and board certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology 1984. I worked 1986 – 1996 clinically and with research at Uppsala University Hospital with infertility and hormone imbalances.

My PhD dissertation 1994 focused on PCO (polycystic ovaries). I have continued to be involved in this type of reseach as an advisor to several doctoral students. The first of these, Dr Gianluca Gennarelli from Turin in Italy, defended his dissertation 1998. Several years later, Dimitrijus Kirilovas from Lithuania defended his dissertation on the enzyme aromatase. Research within PCO includes infertility not only because of menstrual disturbances but also due the link between PCO, obesity/overweight problems, eating disorders and diabetes. I often lecture nationally and internationally on these problems. Recently, my research has studied prognostic variables affecting IVF outcome. Together with a statistician, Lars Berglund, at Uppsala Clinical Research Center, I have  been a thesis advisor to several mathematics students. The mathematical models we have developed are the basis for the individual advice we now give each patient at our clinic. These models also help us determine if one or two embryos can be transferred.

Dr Thomas Brodin, PhD

Certified physician 1994. Board certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology 1999. From 1994 – 2009, I worked at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mälar Hospital, Eskilstuna. My main responsibility was gynecological surgery, urogynecology and the investigation and treatment of infertility.

Since 2006, I have been researching infertility together with Jan Holte who was also my supervisor during my PhD project. I defended my PhD thesis “Ovarian Reserve and Assisted Reproduction” March, 2013. I have been working clinically at the Carl von Linné Clinic since January, 2009.
